Phillipsburg, Quebec

I couldn't locate a web site for the town of Phillipsburg, Quebec, so I decided to make one.

Google

Phillipsburg is a sparsely populated town immediately after you cross the I-89 Border crossing at Highgate VT, US. into Quebec, Canada. The main road running through it is Rte 133. It is an area of mostly flat farmland.

There is an ice cream shop at the corner of Rte 133 and Rte 202, with a very beautiful, ornate church to the right if your are headed northbound. Try a Glace Gateau au Fromage ( Cheesecake soft ice cream).

It you drive about 5 kilometers up Rte 133, and take a right at the corner of Rte 133 and 202, Rte 202 will take you into the little village of Bedford after about another 5 kilometers.

If you continue Nord (North) on Rte 133, it will branch off into a fork after about 15 kilometers. If you bear right, you will come to the city of St. Jean Sur-Richelieu, and if you continue further Nord 35 kilometers, the city of Longeuil, which is a suburb of Montreal.

On your way back to VT, there is a Duty Free shop where souvenirs and luxury items can be purchased for import back to the US without paying sales taxes. The first thing that will hit you when you enter is the smell of colognes and perfumes. The shop offers a wide variety of designer name scents, T-shirts, key chains, fridge magnets, and other souvenirs, gourmet Canadian food items such as maple smoked salmon, maple syrup, maple coffee, and chocolates, and spirits and liquors, ( including outrageously priced Cognac for about CA $ 2500.00 a bottle).
